Method Statements - Preparation and Evaluation

A Method Statement is part of a safe system of work which covers hazardous activities.

It is a proposed step-by-step method for carrying out the work safely.

 

The purpose of a Method Statement is to allow those undertaking the work to:

  • to do so in a safe manner
  • understand the risks
  • implement all necessary control measures required by any associated Risk Assessments
  • minimise the risks to personnel

The Method Statement may cover:

  • the whole project
  • a particular project task
  • one part of a project

Aims:

 

To provide the information required to either write or evaluate method statements. Delegates will also understand why these documents are required and their place in the process of project management.

 

Objectives:

 

On completion of this course, delegates will be enabled to prepare or carry out evaluation of method statements.
